Two questions today...

First, I just stopped by to let everyone know (as if it wasn't pretty obvious from my lack of activity) that I rarely stop by LJ anymore. I still do, occasionally, but I'm much more active on FB... just let me know who you are I'll add you there.

If you were given one magic wish to improve the world, for what would you wish?

Hmm... I think that if everyone could read one another's minds, that there would be quite a bit less misunderstandings. However, that raises a couple of issues:
1) lack of privacy... and to a further extent, a potential lack of individuality
2) it doesn't stop malicious people from being malicious.

Therefore, I think a better idea would be if everyone possessed empathy. The ability to put oneself into another's shoes... see things from their prospective.

You're on a crashing plane and your partner is fast asleep. Would you wake her/him up to say 'I love you' one last time or let her/him die in her/his sleep?

I think it would be selfish to wake my loved one, just so I could have piece of mind. It would be better for them to not have to worry about it and just die sleeping.

That said, I never implied that I'm not selfish. As horrible as I think it would be to subject my otherwise peacefully sleeping loved one, I would wake them.

Tracking my prey back home

So, I think I scared the piss out of someone the other day:

I was driving home (for those of you who don't know, I live deep in a wooded/residential area), and there was a car in front of me that was moving very slowly. I couldn't pass, so I just followed. This vehicle began moving faster (but still not quite the speed limit), and I adjusted my speed to match.

By sheer coincidence, this car in front of me took every turn I was going to make AND actually turned into the parking lot of condos where I live. They parked hastily, taking up two spots, while I went and parked in my normal spot. Then they turned their car around and sped off!

Somehow, I find that... very satisfying.

Words... some of them mean stuff

How is everyone?

I'm pretty sore. Yesterday I marched in the Seattle Pride parade, wearing boots that I found out too late were a bit too small for me. Didn't stop me from having a great time helping to escort the Flying Spaghetti Monster, though! :)
Afterwards, the Flophouse (Sierra, JJ, and Andrew) accompanied Kat and I to a place called Rob Roy. Excellent drinks! Great tasting nibbles! A smidge overpriced, but all in all, a good place with a bunch of pretty cool people... and they garnish their urinals!!
Didn't get around to heading over to the Pike Place Market, like I wanted to. That'll have to wait for another weekend.
Later, on the way home, we stopped by Zoopa for dinner. I love that place.

The day before, saw Kat and I out at the Taste of Tacoma, then swinging by our favorite book store to pick up a few more books that we don't really have any room for. Oh well, we gotta have our books, so whatcha gonna do, right?

I think I'm liking the tv show The Gates. Not bad so far, but we'll see. *shrug*

My work has finally approved my requested days of to attend Seadogs, so I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully the weather will be much better than at All's Faire (all my garb was totally soaked by the rain, but had taken on the wonderful smell of campfire... a bright side to everything, right?).

Still trying to figure out exactly what we're doing for the Fourth of July. Tacoma? Steilacoom? Something else? Suggestions?

My mom has volunteered me to help set-up her friend's (actually a close friend of the family/practically family herself) computer and teach her how to use it. I was successfully bribed with a one terabyte, external hard drive. This ought to be frustrating as all hell.

Anywho, I now return you all to your regularly scheduled programming. :)

It's Sunday

Saw Iron Man 2 last night. Very happy. :)

Dennis came over to fetch the van and load it up with supplies for Pirate's Plunder.

My boss' wife gave birth on Friday... by my calculations that is two months too early. I hope everything goes well for them.

I hope all the mom's out there are having a wonderful Mother's Day!

I had another dream.> Again, an unknown relative leaves me a house just outside of a remote little town. This Collapse )

My Saturday

Woke up and slummed around the house for a few, then off to a May Day celebration with Kat. We participated in a small parade (well, I guess it was more of a procession than a parade), made flower arrangements for our heads, sang songs, danced, then watched as people danced a Maypole. :)

Off to get a couple cupcake, we then passed a protest of some kind (we couldn't read the signs before passing them). We decided to get some real food, so we headed to the Antique Sandwich Company. MMmmmm... we hadn't been there in too long!

Then we ended up at a thrift store and bought a bunch of books! Not a bad day. :)

I hope everyone had a lovely Beltane!!

Off to DreamlandCollapse )

lj-douchery, catching up, and a meme

LJ-Douchery
I'm spreading the knowledge:
If you haven't heard already, lj is screwing with your outgoing links to make money for themselves... potentially at your cost.
Go read this.
Then go to the lj control panel and paste in this:
set opt_exclude_stats 1
Then hit execute.

Other Stuff
Had a great Crew Activation (back on the 10th). Yay, pirate party! We officially welcomed aboard Pink Willy, Scarface, and (finally) Baracle Biddy (formerly known as Pirate Mom).
The only downer was that I was in the mood to get good and drunk (which is actually pretty damn rare), but try as I might, I never even got buzzed.

I need to give a serious thanks to Slinky, who donated her two unused tickets to the Abney Park show at Circus at the End of the World II (way back on the 11th) to us. XD YAY!

Most recently, we've had more issues with the plumbing... but hopefully that problem will be completely taken care of! Some plumbers came out last week and completely tore shit up, replacing ancient pipes and such.

And... on to the meme!"

Your dominant hues are cyan and green. Although you definately strive to be logical you care about people and know there's a time and place for thinking emotionally. Your head rules most things but your heart rules others, and getting them to meet in the middle takes a lot of your energy some days.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life can be bright or dark, depending on the situation. You are flexible and see things objectively.

If you could hang out with any fictional character for a whole day, who would you choose, and why?

Neil Gaiman's Death, because we're all a little in love with Death. ;)

Mostly venting

Went to my mom's last night. Chicken curry, mmmmmm. :)

All was not great, though. I've turned into tech support... and I mean even more than I used to be. The last several times I've been over there hasn't been any real sort of conversation. My entire visit consisted of fixing problems with my mother's increasing collection of technological gadgets.

I mean, seriously, who needs four different dvd players hooked up to their televisions?! And in a way that they can all be played through each other, not just to the tv. Then there is her new "media player". Gah! I swear, she shouldn't be allowed to have these things... she doesn't understand how to hook them together, she has to write herself instructions to get everything to work. And don't get me started on her computer! She can't even follow the simple directions of "open the folder", I have to walk her through finding the correct folder and clicking on it. Yes, mom, you have to click twice.

Anyway, that venting went a bit too long. On my way home, this big truck came out of nowhere, barreling down the road and almost hit me, then decided to ride my ass and turn on their high-beams. After going the long way to get home (the truck was turning the same way I wanted to, but I didn't want to be in front of it any longer), I ran into the same truck again while cutting back to my place. The damn thing slammed into reverse and tried to run me off the road! Damn crazy driver!

So today Kat is serving on a jury. I hope the case doesn't last too long.

Let's see... oh yeah, Happy Earth Day!

I ran into a little present from nature back at the vehicle storage lot here at work. It was owl droppings in the form of a squirrel. Just a bit of fur and bones. Hmm, come to think of it, it might not have been an owl, I have seen a very large bird (I think it was an eagle) around lately.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing fine! :)

... cake?

I recently had a dream about an "internet cake". It made perfect sense while I was asleep, but now I'm trying to figure out what the hell an internet cake is... any ideas?

He Has Returned

Right. So I was going to call this something along the lines of "Christ-like Behavior" (because I'm returning to LJ on Easter), but I figured that would potentially piss off a few too many people on my f-list. Instead, I settled on the above subject title... which I'm sure is offensive enough (to those who are want to find such things).

In the time since my last post:
Cut for tl;drCollapse )
Anyhow, I'm sorry for the extreme tl;dr on this, but I had a lot of catching up to do. I'll be trying to catch up with reading everyone's posts. Hope everyone is doing well!! :)
